Training with the dumbbell
Training with the barbell
The barbell is the training device of choice when it comes to leg or chest training. The most popular exercises with dumbbells of this kind are squad and bench press. A barbell gives you the opportunity to focus a lot of weight on an object that can be better controlled because both hands carry this device. Similar to the dumbbell there are a lot of exercises here:
- bench press
It is recommended to train with the barbell when very large muscle areas are to be trained, such as the thighs, buttocks, chest or lower back.
Training with the Kettlebell
In functional training, the kettlebell has established itself as the all-around training weight. There are now several books on kettlebell training and kettlebell exercises that are absolutely worth reading. Kettlebell training consists partly of very dynamic movements, but can also be held statically. Usually, however, kettlebell exercises are built into complex movements. The training is less aimed at bodybuilding, i.e. building an optically perfect body, but rather at creating a body that performs functionally great and can move healthily. The performance is in the foreground, not the optics. In the functional area there is no getting around the kettlebell, but the mistake would be too fatal to do without it.
What weight do I need?
Whether a dumbbell, barbell, or kettlebell is needed for your training depends on what goals are being pursued. Buying dumbbells is definitely not a mistake for the goal of a beautiful body. If you want to build body control in the form of coordination and functionality, the kettlebell is probably the better choice.
It also makes sense to prefer the barbell, as it can also be used functionally. It should be noted, however, that this training is more for the large and less for the small muscles.
