Yoga is a beneficial exercise method for pregnant women that strengthens, relaxes, and gently prepares the body for birth. This comprehensive manual presents seventy tried and tested asanas that are particularly suitable for this purpose, and also offers birth-preparatory breathing exercises, couple exercises, and classical Indian mudras.

Using many photos taken by the author during her own pregnancy, the individual asanas and their variations for the respective trimester are presented. At the same time, their respective positive effects, anatomical details as well as warning signs and possible assistance are explained.
In addition, this book offers special exercise sequences for each trimester and strategies against the most common pregnancy complaints. The program is complemented by effective postpartum yoga and exercises with the baby for the first year after birth.

About the Author:
Katharina Rainer-Trawöger
studied Indian art and culture at the University of Vienna. She is a certified holistic art therapist with a focus on dance and painting and completed a classical yoga training in India in the tradition of the Indian doctor Swami Sivananda.

For years she has been leading yoga trainings in the areas of pregnancy yoga, mama-baby yoga, children's yoga and classical Indian hatha yoga.

As a yoga teacher and director of the Freiraum Institute in Vienna, the largest Austrian provider in the field of pregnancy yoga and mama-baby yoga, she has already accompanied over 2000 pregnant women during this special time. She was certified as an "Experienced Yoga Teacher" by the International Yoga Alliance. She lives in Vienna with her husband and two daughters.
