Simple and effective techniques for acute and chronic pain
One in ten people complain of shoulder and neck pain. The pain is often caused by impingement syndrome, in which tendons, ligaments or muscles become trapped in a joint space, leading to irritation and degeneration of tendons and bursae. This results in painful movement restrictions.
Doctors are all too quick to advise shoulder surgery, even though this is often not necessary. Regular mobility exercises in combination with strength building in the external rotators can be enough to successfully treat impingement. But even after surgery, light movements and targeted muscle development can be crucial for a speedy recovery. Sports therapist Katharina Brinkmann and sports editor Nicolai Napolski not only summarize the most important information on the background and development of impingement syndrome, but also present techniques and exercises that can be used to cure the symptoms simply and specifically.
